I am finally almost done unpacking boxes from the move! If that’s not a new Friday favorite, then I don’t know what is. We’ve spent a lot of time rearranging the space and trying to see what works where. For now, all the bikes have a good home so I can say we prioritized correctly. Sadly we’ve got to go clean the apartment tomorrow so there goes my Saturday morning (whomp, whomp).
It was another hot week in the cities and I’m so ready for this muggy-ness to be over. The summers here certainly make up for the winter, but I am not into this humidity. Thankfully we have an air conditioner in our room, even though it makes this weird creaky noise unless you tilt it sideways. Yeah, SIDEWAYS aka watch your air conditioner fall out the window (no thanks) so we live with the squeaky-ness.
We decided to tackle the bathroom first for the renter’s DIY series. I can’t take any credit for coming up with the ideas because my friend Marin is helping me. If you follow my blog, then you’re not surprised at all by that. This weekend we are going to tackle caulking the trim and giving it a fresh coat of paint. The homeowners painted over all the woodwork, which makes me cringe and cry inside. I grew up in old homes, so to see all that beautiful wood be covered in a half hazard coat of paint is just awful. Dramatic antics aside, a second coat of white will make it look halfway decent and we will eventually paint the rest of the bathroom white as well. I’ve picked a black and white (+ blue or yellow?) theme for the bathroom to keep it clean and simple. Check out this week’s favorites for my bathroom inspiration.. and other fun things.
This week’s favorites:
I’m totally in love with this shower curtain, but I’m sure as hell not paying $115 dollars for it. We are going to do something like this, with a painted sheet instead.
I like this look for above the toilet. A simple shelf and some plants that I can’t kill.. maybe a cactus or some succulents? I heard that air plants are pretty low maintenance.
On second thought, I like the look of this DIY hanging planter shelf. Above the toilet problem solved. Don’t worry, I’ll change my mind next week. These plant pods are also pretty cool. Okay, air plant hanging mason jar planters win.
I also think this idea of wallpaper art from ohladycakes is super fun so maybe that will be my backup to plant haven.
